Design and Format of Celtic Wedding Invitations?

Modern Celtic Knot Wedding Invitations
Celtic weddings are delightfully rich in tradition; from the wedding invitations to the menu and music at the reception, a Celtic wedding a joyous occasion. But who can have a Celtic wedding?
Well, if you’re Irish, British, Welsh, Scottish or have lineage to any of the other smaller islands in North Eastern Europe, then you have Celtic roots. And Celtic roots or heritage entitles you to have a Celtic wedding.
Celtic wedding invitations for such an event should carry more than the announcement of the upcoming nuptials. White stands for purity, green for luck and the different Tartan Plaids stand for a number of things.
Using the plaid representative of your family’s line is a lovely and unique way to invite guests to the wedding as well as carrying it on into the décor. Just make sure you don’t go overboard.
Another very important aspect of a Celtic wedding is the wedding rings for the bride and groom as well as the jewelry the bride wears on her wedding day.
These symbols are so deep in meaning-something any couple could use. When it comes to the rings, the couple will almost certainly have one of the following symbols engraved on their rings in some fashion. You can also use these celtic symbols on your celtic wedding invitations to carry the theme of the wedding.
The Tree of Live: symbolic of being all nourishing and all giving. Every marriage should be the same.
The Trinity Knot: symbolizes the couple’s unity to God. The Four-leaf Clover: the symbol of luck and prosperity. This is by far the most familiar to all people.
Another tradition for Celtic weddings is the familiar ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, and a penny in her shoe’. The bride will always wear white.
A simple Grecian style dress is usually worn rather than one with lots of tulle and fluff. The one and only wedding venue is the church. Other not so common traditions are:
1. The bride and groom leave the church taking a different route from the one they took to arrive there. This symbolizes the journey of their new life together in ‘unchartered territory’.
2. In Scotland the groom will tie a sash of his family’s plaid onto the bride’s gown as they are pronounced husband and wife.
3. A feast and celebration like few others is usually a part of the Celtic wedding. This dates back to the days of arranged marriages between families for the benefit of all involved.
Finding Celtic wedding décor, invitations and attire is as easy as asking your local bridal consultant or looking online. They even have wedding chapels in Vegas that do Celtic weddings! Who would have thought??
